About me

Nina Shah  Gestalt Counsellor Dip. MBACP (Accred.), Reiki Master Level 3

I’m a creative counsellor, of British and Croatian ethnicity, based in Stockholm in Sweden. To my UK clients, I offer remote counselling options such as phone, video, messaging and email, including ‘remote walk and talk’. I also offer remote Reiki healing. For Stockholm-based clients, I am additionally offering in-person outdoor or walk and talk sessions.

I have current insurance to work with clients based in the UK and Europe. I have worked within mental health and wellbeing for over 20 years. I have worked in a therapeutic setting since 2010, in private practice as a counsellor and Reiki healer, and as a volunteer and school counsellor for ARC Counselling in Wokingham, UK.

For my counselling work, I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means that I work within their Code of Ethics. Due to my work as a counsellor, my ethical considerations always extend to my healing work too.

Because of my own mixed culture and mixed religion background, and my personal neurodivergent experience, I have a particular interest in the impact of difference, whether cultural, relating to faith and belief, or individual e.g. neurodiversity such as autism/Asperger’s/ASDs, ADHD or sensory sensitivities, and mental health problems.

I work with the anger that difference or feeling misunderstood can lead to, and the impact on life direction this can have, for example, when it leads to feelings of depression, helplessness or lack of purpose.

I also work with issues relating to life transition points, and their impact on relationships with self and others. These transitions might include:

  • Changing identity or life choices (e.g. becoming an adult, marriage, menopause, pregnancy or becoming a parent, and also relationship breakdown including issues of infidelity and jealousy)
  • Living a mixed culture life (mixed culture relationships, emigration, expat life etc.)
  • Coping with issues relating to start and end of life
    • Conception and pregnancy
    • Dying and death
  • Loss of faith or uncertainty surrounding personal beliefs

These transitions can result in existential crisis. This is where everything you once assumed or expected in life, has been lost. You may feel uncertain or afraid. You no longer feel able to predict or assure your future. You may be wondering, what is my purpose?
